Event Coverage: So Special Saturdays at Turntables

So on Saturday I made my way over to Turntables to see what they got going on these days. So Special Saturdays is what the Destiny Family calls it - did I meet that special someone - NO, but I did enjoy the night - de place sell off!

For all of you that know, or don't know - I use to promote the Saturday nights at Turntables. Do you remember Slackness Saturdays?

Well, I eventually parted ways with the place and Turntables left a nasty taste in my mouth, so going back and actually enjoying the night was a surprise to me.

For a matter of fact, lets start from the beginning.

I pulled up around 2am - and there were no parking spots ANYWHERE! Are you serious? The streets is packed, the car wash spot next door is packed, the parking lot in the back of Turntables is packed AND the gas station across the street is packed!

wtf?

Is it really going down like this in TURNTABLES?

Man, when I tell you I was a little jealous! Not even my parties were popping off like this when I was out here doing my thing...

I went inside and the place was FULL A VIBEZ...people smiling, dancing, and chilling - all with a drink in hand.

In there was so hot! So hot that chickens were laying hard boiled eggs!

When I tell you the bar was making a killing, you gotta believe me. When I went to get myself a drink the bartender told me that they ran out of straws!

Music was by the infamous Destiny Sound alongside Lion Vibes, Blaze and Trinity so you know that the music was nice, the vibe was nice, the people was nice - and thats how a party is supposed to be!

I go to a lot of reggae parties in the area - even the underground spots like the 'use to be' Blackhouse and the Country Club and I haven't made it to a party as good as this one in a LONG TIME. Trust me, I don't even want to big up the management at Turntables too too much but I have to give props when props are due.

This party was by far my favorite because it had everything a successful party needs. A great crowd who came to party. They were well dressed and smelled good. I saw the security guards - which you already know I'm a fan of - I like to feel safe. Reputable sound systems...and let me digress for a second...

When looking into a DJ/Sound System for a party, you want people who STUDY music...who takes their music seriously. Not people who listen to other peoples mixes and replicate. I say this because you will always, ALWAYS, always hear the same songs. There are so many other songs and other riddims that are worthy of being in rotation. Songs that you messed around and FORGOT that you loved - and on Saturday at Turntables thats what I heard.

And the crowd was loving it!

Let's not forget that the bar was fully stocked, and even those people who you always see drinking but never seem drunk was stumbling - an interesting sight.

And drumroll for the added perk...

It was someone's birthday so there was food available to everyone.

So tell me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that sound like a great party?

Well, I assure you it was!
