Irie Jamboree is going to be INSANE this year and I am sooooo excited about it!
There is such a variety of artists blessing the stage, from the vintage, to the 80s and 90s artists, to the roots and culture AND then to the latest in dancehall - there will be a little bit of something for everyone so there is NO excuse why you can't make it out this year.
This year Irie Jamboree will also be honoring a few of the artists who deserve to be noticed for their contribution to reggae music and the Caribbean culture throughout the years.
Sugar Minott, Freddy McGregor and Ken Boothe will all be honored with the Irie Jamboree Lifetime Acheivement award this Labor Day and I must say - I am proud!
Among the acts confirmed for Irie Jamboree 2009 are Grammy winner Sean Paul, Mr Vegas, TOK, Assassin, Spice, Chino, Barbee, Anthony Cruz and Laden who will perform in the 'Dancehall Hotshots" segment.
Pinchers, Daddy Lizard, Shinehead, Flourgon and Lady G will be featured in the 80s/90s Rub A Dub Session.
The Roots & Culture segment will feature Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica, Tarrus Riley, Bushman, Ras Shiloh, Ras Penco, Natural Blacks and Gramps Morgan.
And singers Sugar Minott, Freddy McGregor, and Ken Boothe will perform in the Vintage segment while Canadian Imports will feature 2009 JUNO reggae winner Humble and Reggae Music Achievement & Canadian Reggae Music Award winners Steele and Tasha T.
