So by now I’m sure you’ve heard the big news about dancehall’s ‘bad gyal’ Ce’Cile. If you haven’t let me catch you up a bit! This Manchester-born diva has signed a licensing agreement with both MTV and E! networks. This agreement allows both stations to play Ce’Cile’s music for popular reality TV shows that run on both stations. Jamaica Gleaner reports:
“Jamstar Productions, LLC announced late last week that a master and synchronisation licensing agreement for popular reality TV shows will include several songs performed by Ce'Cile. The agreement covers the use of Ce'Cile's tracks for the hit reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians aired on E!, and The Real World and Road Rules Extreme/All-Star Challenge, currently airing on MTV Networks.”
Incase you were wondering, this is definitely a big deal and a good look for Ce’Cile. Her music is going to be heard in millions of homes making it more mainstream; and I don’t know about you but I’m happy to finally be getting some quality dancehall music on these networks. It is way overdue. Ce’Cile seems to be elated about the entire situation. She was quoted saying:
“I'm very excited about it," Ce'Cile said of the agreement and what it means for her career. "Millions of people, including myself, love watching those shows, so without a doubt my music will reach new audiences and that's the intention."
Jamaica Gleaner also reports:
“The agreement was reached with Bunim-Murray of Los Angeles, California, the leading producers of reality TV docu-dramas in the USA. Ce'Cile has been a growing international force with the success of her songs, including the hit single Hot Like We that was just a few months ago the number one song on the German Black Music Charts.
"Ce'Cile is a very talented artiste, and she has put in a lot of hard work over the years. This agreement is just further testament of the dedication she has devoted to her career and her music. We are excited for her, and we think it's great, especially for the female artistes in the Jamaican music industry. There is a lot of untapped talent there," said Donald Harper, CEO and president of Jamstar Productions, LLC.”
Well we are all rooting for you Ce’Cile and very proud that you will be stepping in the forefront with some great dancehall music for everyone to enjoy! Don’t forget to look out for Keeping Up with the Kardashians on the E! network; which airs its fourth season this November. Also check out MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge which has recently begun its 18th season.
Listen for Ce’Cile’s songs and most definitely go out and support her. We look forward to big things from her very soon!
