"Mi nuh know which girl nowadays nah bleach.." - Lisa Hype

So what is this?

Lisa Hype is the voice of the Portmore community??!

Lisa Hype recently came out with a song entitled, "Proud Ah Mi Bleaching" where she basically talks about bleaching in a positive light, without realizing that there is nothing positive about bleaching your skin.

"Di girl dem seh mi a lock it fi dem this year. A me alone a talk fi dem. Mi nuh know which girl nowadays nah bleach, even fi use likkle Nadinola and rub on fi mek dem face cool," states Lisa Hype.

"A bleaching a run the place and it all right because dat fi show yuh seh yuh a tek care of yourself."

This only adds to the deterioration of the black community. We already promote too much negativity through our music but now to actually promote the deterioration of our health is just ridiculous. You would think killing each other was enough... but now we take it a step further to promote the killing of ourselves.

Do you realize the downward spiral??

So yes, of course there are a lot of people who LOVE the song, mainly because they bleach their skin as well so instead of doing the normal, 'walk of shame' they can chant on with Lisa Hype and use her as a role model... but really... Lisa Hype? Role model??

Too many people are using the lyrics to music as the GOOD WORD... if you need a role model or if you need some inspiration.. READ THE BIBLE!

Use music as a source of entertainment - not the message you live by. Come on folks, we're grown now - we should know the difference from right and wrong.

This woman is a hot mess. SMDH. What ever happened to Natural Beauty? People lets put an end to this bleaching epidemic. Bleaching is a form of self hatred. Why not love the way God made you to be? We are all made to his likeness.

LOL @ Jamaipanese!! So true!

Jamelle, the craziest part was when she said that bleaching your skin shows that you take care of yourself!! wtf?! If you want to take care of yourself, rub up with some shea butter!

"We as black women, need to seriously rethink our ideas about "beauty" and get really serious about REJECTING the "American White Girl Beauty Standard" and start creating and imposing our own standard of beauty." - Kola Boof
