When we hear the name Cherine Anderson, we automatically think of her as a talented actor who has starred in two successful films, "Dancehall Queen" and "One Love".
Who would have ever thought that this beautiful talented girl from Kingston, Jamaica would be one of the FIRST female reggae singers to register a song on the Billboard Charts??
Anderson has been featured with Michael Franti and Spearhead on the Sly and Robbie produced smashing hit "Say Hey, (I Love You)". This song has been added to many top radio stations across the US.
The song peaked at #1 on Billboard Heatseekers charts and has been steadily climbing other charts. Currently, "Say Hey (I Love You)" is #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, #14 on the Digital Songs charts, #22 on the Pop Songs chart and $43 on The Radio Songs chart.
The highlight of Anderson's billboard success was when "Say Hey (I Love You)" became #48 on the Billboard Rock chart.
No other female reggae artist has ever earned a spot on the Billboard Rock chart in the past!
Cherine Anderson is one artist who is passionate about her career. She is dedicated to keep breaking records and producing chart topping hits. Right now, Anderson is doing an 11 city tour and will open for many other great performers.
Even though Anderson is new to the musical aspect of entertainment, she surely captivates the attention of crowds of some of music's living legends.
Look out for Cherine Anderson in a city near you! She is truly a rising star and is definitely taking reggae music to greater heights!

So yes, 'Bobby' tried a great escape and even cut off his locks with hopes to disguise his identity and that talks of the recent altercation between himself and a taxi man would die down.. but it didn't work.
29 year old Barrington Robert Aldridge, also known as 'Bobby' was charged with felonious wounding which really should be considered attempted murder.. but according to 'Bobby', if he REALLY wanted to kill him.. he would have!!
I'll take his word for it..
"Yes man, him cut off his locks, but he was held thanks to police intelligence and a planned operation," an officer at the Papine Police Station said when contacted yesterday.
He is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, his victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.
To see WHY he is currently under arrest, press play!
"First of all I have to big up Don all di way. He is 100 per cent an amazing producer and we've had a lot of success together. We just returned from Japan where we released my second album 'Luv-A-Dub' and it has been doing great, getting serious album sales which is a big feat. It was a very beneficial positive experience, still is, but we're no longer working together." states Alaine in regards to her professional relationship with Don Corleonie.
There have been rumors stating that Don Corleonie and Alaine also had a personal relationship but neither one has ever confirmed these allegations.
When Alaine was asked about their personal relationship, she stated that her personal life was in fact, her PERSONAL life but immediately dismissed the rumors that her and Don Corleonie were married.
As to whether the two will ever work together in the future, Alaine said, "I'm not a fortune teller but wherever there's good music and good vibes, I can work with it."
This 'break up' happened just in time, right after the recent release of her latest album, Luv A Dub under Don Corleonie Records in August 2009.
Konshens is doing a great job at keeping reggae contemporary and positive. A good combination, especially when everything affiliated with the Jamaican culture is known to be filled with hate, guns, war, drugs and poverty.
Even if you can't appreciate that little notion of positivity, I can!
These days, when the only thing that I have to donate is time - I realize that I can enjoy using my time and energy towards something that can uplift my culture and still be based out of the Washington DC, Maryland, Virgina area.
So if you too have some extra time and want to use it towards positivity, join me!

I can't even tell you WHAT happened why the rasta man was so upset, but he was mad enough not to even care about his surroundings, witnesses or the fact that it was broad daylight.
Didn't Vybz Kartel say that a REAL badman does his killing in broad daylight?
For the record, I don't want to come across any REAL badman, kindly, do not introduce yourself to me.
Let's start this one off with the definition of a 'jacket'.
A 'jacket' is basically what you will find on the Maury show - lots of women have a dirty little secret and they don't know how to confess to their significant other.
"You are NOT the father!!"
A jacket is a cover up; its a child that is BELIEVED to belong to the man who is raising him/her but in all actuality, the child is not his biologically.
Some men ignore the reality and love the child like his own even though they know the dates don't match up, the baby's complexion is too light bright, and he has NO Indian in his blood (so why the baby hair so soft and curly?) - but love is love.
Others are DECEIVED! And bwoy, when dem find out, things like this happen...
I laugh a lot, but this is no joking matter.
20 year old Orville Brown from Gutters, St. Catherine has been charged for punching a 3-month old baby to death.
Apparently, Orville and the baby's mother got into an argument where the woman confessed that he was not the father of the child.
Orville immediately rushed to the baby and began punching the infant numerous times in the face, the baby was then rushed to the hospital - where he later died.
No, its not right to knowingly lie about whose fathering your child , but once you start you can't just stop. You take that secret to the GRAVE! Or at least make a smooth transition into the truth - you don't tell anyone anything like that in the middle of an argument!!
THIS JUST IN!!
The mother of the child was 15 years old, so he is ALSO being charged with having sex with a minor.
What a shame... we have to teach these kids better. We're doing a horrible job!! Source: CaribArena
Right now, Morgan Heritage is making moves separately so that we can appreciate each of the members as a single entity.
Not a bad idea...
Here is Peetah Morgan, one of the most distinctive voices of the group Morgan Heritage, preaching to us that we have to be mindful of who we have around us.
We worry so much about our enemies that we don't realize when our "friends" are they ones betraying us.
Keep your eyes open and pay attention to ALL types of relationships - whether its a friendship, family member, or mate.
Bad mind and wicked heart is trying to take over..
Lately I've been noticing a lot of stories about people murdering their entire family including the innocent children and it makes me realize that you really have to watch the people around you.
Whenever they interview the neighbors they always start off saying they can't believe it and they would have never expected it from him/her. He was such a decent man.
Whatever!
That decent man or decent woman murdered their own children in cold blood, can you imagine what kind of harm they can inflict on you? All of you conniving folks better watch who you're trying to get over on because you may very well be next on someones hit list!
And with that said,
A Florida man, Mesac Damas (age 33), is in custody in Haiti and facing first degree murder charges for the horrific death of his wife Guerline (age 32), and five children - Michzach, 9; Marven, 6; Maven, 5; Megan, 3; and Morgan, 11 months.
Police records show that Mesac and his wife, Guerline were often in domestic related cases but she would PLEAD with the judge to set him free, drop the charges, and send him home - it's not as bad as it seems.
Now, for the ladies who are tolerating domestic abuse from your mate at home, I'm not saying to leave your man - I would just like to point out similar women in similar situations and of course, highlight the end result.
Investigators have yet to release how the family was murdered but stressed that upon entering the home, it was a gruesome sight.
When searching for Mesac Damas, police on duty found his car parked at Miami International Airport - he bought a one way ticket to Haiti, with hopes to leave his past behind.
He was found hiding out near a hotel in Port Au Prince by Haiti police and is now in custody - he will be extradited to the United States because he is now a US Citizen.
He can now be facing life in jail or the death penalty.
When I was looking for a picture to post with this article I started to come across his personal pictures from various social networks. He sure does look like a normal guy...
The smartest thing Foota Hype could've done was leave Cassava Piece..
They sent the man to jail, gave him a few days to think some things through and he soon realized that he needed to change his life.
You see, sometimes jail CAN be a form of rehabilitation.
Selector, Foota Hype says that he worries for his life and well being so he decided to protect himself and his family by finally leave the negativity behind and move out of Cassava Piece.
"Yea, mi a low di community. Right now di 'Gully' a stay inna mi heart but mi affi leave di community - a it dat," he said.
"It a get too much - cause di only way dem a offer mi is death or prison. Suh mi a tek whe myself from all negativity," Foota Hype said.
Although moving out of the community was a good idea, some may question why he decided to paint over a mural of his name.
He doesn't want his name to be attached to anything in the area but he still wants to be considered a member of alliance??
When he was asked about the mural that was made out of respect for the selector, he said that he felt it portrayed him in a negative light.
"Di painting pon di wall mek it look like mi a don when it was out of respect dem did do it. It's a decision I take where yuh av to tink 'bout protection a yuh family and income."
"...but mi wah everybody remember sey Alliance means Bounty Killer and friends. Me and Mavado thing nuh determine dat (him still being part of Alliance). Mi still love 'Gully', still say Alliance, but when things start happen in yuh community whe start affect yuh life, yuh youth and yuh mada, yuh affi tek whe yuh self," he said.
"Men II Boys" is a riveting documentary that was filmed by Janks Morton, a Washington DC based film maker in hopes of shedding light on the black male community. Morton's idea to make this documentary stemmed when the graduation rates of young black teens surfaced.
It was stated that a mere 56% of black teenage boys actually graduated this past school year. This rate is on a decline, and is stirring controversy between civil rights leaders and school officials.
Janks Morton thought the best way to get some help from other influential men to help uplift our young teenage boys of today was to make this documentary. This could possible be on a step towards solutions to help our children of the world.
This phenomenal film is a cry for help for our teenage black boys. It is proven that a child with a positive male figure in their life is more compelled to set goals and achieve them, and is more likely to be a product of success.
This film will be shown at Annapolis High School in Annapolis, MD on Saturday, September 19th, 2009. Showtime for this documentary will be at 2pm and at 7pm. This is a great film to take the family to see in hopes of educating everyone around us about what's going on in our black communities.
Let's not have facts like this surface and not do anything about it. Our black community needs to stand united to help uplift one another. Our children need our help. We can shed more light to this problem and try to find a solution together in each and every hometown.
Wherever you are from, your help is needed. This film needs to be shown worldwide. Friends, lets join forces and be the "DRIVE" that our young black teens need.
The world needs to realize that the most talented people on this planet come out of Jamaica.
'memba dat!
Honorable Usain Bolt is how you should refer to this gentleman who will be presented with the nation's fourth out of the five ranks in the Jamaican honor system, the Order of Jamaica!
Usain Bolt will be the youngest person to receive the Order of Jamaica at the meek age of 23.
For a matter of fact, his birthday was just the other day and he was serenaded by a crowd of 91,000 who sang 'Happy Birthday'!
Usain Bolt life officially sort out. On top of that, he is being presented with Highway 2000. The highway will be renamed after Usain Bolt - which is a great addition to his list of achievements. 2009 is definitely Bolt's year!!
Excellent over magnificent!!
This man has accomplished so much for Jamaica and we are nothing but proud of him.
The gay population started attacking Buju Banton since I was 7 years old.. I'm 24 today and the war continues..
A so dem strong?
Not all publicity will be good publicity, but good or bad, it keeps you fresh in the minds of your consumer.
Buju, nuh watch no face!
Some say that dancehall has done a wonderful job at promoting the homosexual lifestyle. GLAAD and J-FLAG should be PROUD of dancehall, rather than getting our artists banned from their shows!
If it wasn't for the controversy amongst the gay population and the dancehall community, I find it hard to believe that 'Shebada' would even be mentioned, much less sell out shows worldwide.
The gay community in Jamaica is now called the "Shebada Phenomenon." More and more gay men are now gaining confidence, celebrating their femininity, and as they grow assertive, no longer lurking in the closet for the down-low, instead they are ‘out and bad’ at your local bashment.
They are often dressed in full gay regalia, freedom rings, nails, extensions and mascara. All that’s missing is the handholding and other public displays of affection.
“From wah day ya, dem out like bees, dem de a every dance, sometimes yu see a pack a dem, usually ‘bout eight or so, and dem travel in three Kingfish or three vans. And dem out de, dem have a class, dem well-dressed, in some European styles, like Jean Paul Gautier and dem spend dem money. When mi keep my dance, dem buy out di bar.” One female promoter laughed.
“Dem man ya anno fool, dem can tek care of demself and dem have connections, but dem still move careful because mi hear man and man say dem ah go kidnap two ah dem bwoy de already,” one male observed.
“But to me, is like Jamaica ah get foreignized, almost like dem accept it and just look the other way, ‘cause it obvious say dem gay because dem, even when the selectors dem say ‘too much batty bwoy ah come a dance from wah day ya’. It nuh jerk dem; dem just a party fi di better.”
Now, along with all of the cancelled shows on Buju Banton's 'Rasta Got Soul' tour, there is also a website dedicated to slandering his name and promoting 'Anti Bujuism'.
Instead of the gay community trying to show their positive side, put their good foot forward, or try to attract bees with honey instead of vinegar - they're just showing us how annoying they can be.
No wonder the gay population isn't the most welcomed group of people in ANY society!
Does the gay community ever think about our frame of mind, our point of view? We were born and raised in a culture that teaches us about the biblical times where gay people were stoned to death.
What you expect?! You can't go wrong with the BIBLE!
I don't want to use the term homophobic because its not that we are SCARED of homosexuals, but we are against promoting the lifestyle - but when Shebada is bringing in money and circulating the economy.. we turn the other cheek, we turn a blind eye.
Hint! Hint!
This has been a long battle and you still haven't won, maybe you should try a different technique!
Yes, Jamaicans can be vile creatures, I've NEVER came across a group of people who THRIVED for war more than Jamaicans - so honestly, I don't recommend fighting with us, but we also can be sweet as pie!
I say this again, you'll attract more bees with honey than you would with vinegar.
Throw some money in our direction, open up some opportunities for us, show us that there is more to you than sodomy and headaches - then see what happens...
This weekend marks a special occasion for power couple, Tami Chynn and Wayne Marshall!
They're getting MARRIED!
Which is wonderful, they seem like such a sweet couple and they have great chemistry..
But Shhh, it's a secret.. so don't tell Nooooo BODY!
They wont disclose any information as to when or where, but it is confirmed that the wedding will be taking place this weekend - but give them their privacy and let them enjoy this special occasion together.
I don't want to hear about any crazy fans jumping over fences trying to profess their love at the last minute!!
Congrats to the happily in love, soon to be, newlyweds!

She was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. We at The Wickedest Time would like to send our condolences to Beres and the entire family.
Beres, we will continue to keep you and your family in our prayers and thoughts.
Even though they have a HIT song together, Unicorn wants it to be clear that him and Macka Diamond are no longer friends.
"Mi done with har fi life. Di only way me can deal with she is if certain people say she done with the bull and she is a changed person. A di same way she deal with Black-er. She too ungrateful," Unicorn stated.
The single, 'Tink Bout Mi' is a hit - its floating up the charts and getting closer and closer to the number one spot - since their having a falling out does that mean we wont see them perform it together?!
Yeah right! Once someone starts paying Unicorn - there will be kool aid smiles everywhere!
Unicorn said he went to Boasy Tuesdays last week to promote his latest single 'Never Been Touched', "The selector draw the tune and it gwaan good two times. Then mi hear somebody say a money disc jocks get fi play tune," he said, while noting that a good song does not require payola.
So wait, they played the song TWO GOOD TIME - for free - and yuh still ah complain? You shoulda smiled, said thanks and walked away!
Things immediately got out of control once Unicorn got into an argument with Macka Diamond's chauffeur, a fight broke out, bottles were thrown and Unicorn along with two other men were arrested.
He said when he was in the police vehicle he was threatened by men from Macka Diamonds' camp. Macka Diamond was not at the event.
"Dem seh mi diss up di big woman. How Macka a say dat she give mi money and mi say di money too likkle bit. Mi get fi find out seh a she a do all a this," stated Unicorn.
"Mi get fi understand seh a Macka a set it up. She waan do mi like Black-er and Kiprich - fi write di whole a di hit tune dem and nuh give dem no money. Mi get fi realise seh anyweh mi go fi promote mi tune dem, she ago set up her friend dem."
But Macka Diamond seemed totally confused and shocked last week when she was contacted.
"Mi nuh know bout that (the incident at Boasy Tuesdays). Unicorn a look a hype or something. How mi fi set up people and mi nuh deh a Jamaica three weeks now. I'm lost! Weh yuh a tell mi is news to me," says Macka.
"From mi come up ya three weeks now, a mi album mi a work pon and do movie promotion (Redemption of Paradise)."
Unicorn seem to have a LIST of complaints about Macka!
He also stated that she received $250,000 to perform at Reggae Sumfest and she gave him only $10,000 although he performed alongside her. For other shows across the island, he said he only gets $5,000 - which is only gas money.
This, Macka Diamond was also shocked to hear.
"More time a beg Unicorn beg mi fi a thing and mi give him. Mi neva know seh a book mi book Unicorn fi a show?"
Unicorn said he feels he deserves more as he helped to put her back on top of the charts.
"A me rise har pon di map. All of this is because she waan capture di song fi herself like is the only song lef pon di land. When she get tune, she deal with everybody like rubbish again. Anytime it boil down to nutten, she start call back people," said Unicorn.
I really regret not seeing my girl Tanya Stephens perform at Crossroads this past Sunday with Buju Banton & Queen Ifrica - sounds like I missed a good show, don't it?
Well, I love this song, get familiar with bassist Taddy P in 'Heart of Stone' featuring Tanya Stephens - this song is a hard hitter!
After arriving home after a night out partying at Bembeh and Fiction, Konshens soon realized that he was a victim of a robbery.
The only item that was found missing from the apartment is his rather expensive laptop. His MacBook Pro which contains a lot of his music along with future releases and a rather costly editting software, Protools.
"I went to Bembe and Fiction, came back, woke up about 8 and realized it was missing," Konshensstated.
From checking around the apartment he also noticed that his balcony door was tampered with and believes that suspect used the balcony door to enter the apartment.
For the most part, Konshens is just confused as to why the laptop was the ONLY item stolen especially since it was located in his living room which holds some of the most valuable items in the house.
He takes this as an opportunity to work harder on his upcoming projects and states that he is uninterested in making a police report but would like to make an appeal for the return of the laptop.
If you, or anyone you know have any information about Konshens missing laptop - feel free to contact him at 876.895.0151
Passengers of an Air Jamaica flight leaving Kingston, JA to Ft. Lauderdale was serenaded by Luciano as a treat to a restless crowd whose flight was diverted to Nassau - Miami International and Ft. Lauderdale airports were both closed due to inclement weather.
One passenger remarked, “Only on Air Jamaica this kind of thing could happen….boy, Luciano really made me feel good today.”
Afterwards, the purser thanked Luciano for providing additional entertainment and making it a memorable experience.
During a party at University of West Indies (UWI) this past Friday Vybz Kartel threw insults towards students at UTECH by stating, "UWI a di university of the West Indies, yuh zimi, dats why wi seh UWI doh? Cause if yuh did seh UTECH, dat mean seh yuh tek buddy inna yuh batty."
The students were OUTRAGED and immediately demanded an apology from Vybz Kartel.
Kartel's publicity team released this statement as it relates to the UTECH diss,
"If the UTECH students are as intelligent as I know they are, they will see that I was just poking fun at them because I was "over the other side" so to speak. Because if the 'Chancellor' [Kartel] had been at the UTECH campus, the situation would have been reversed in their favor."
"I have a lot of respect and admiration for students and staff on both campuses. I only 'styled' UTECH jokingly because I know the two campuses have been friendly rivals over the years and I meant no harm or disrespect or defamation of teh great character of UTECH and its students in any way, shape of form."
"And in closing, I would like to ask the UTECH students when they are going to invite the 'Chancellor' to do a lecture on 'socio-economics'."

Hello my friends!
As you guys know Irie Jamboree, North Americas 7th Annual Premiere Reggae Music Festival took place Sunday, September 6th 2009. Many artists from old school to new school were present to perform.

The vibes in the crowd were extraordinary. People swayed left to right just moving to the music of some of the most renowned culture singers who took the stage and gave excellent performances.
In Photo: Ms Diva S & Gramps Morgan
I was able to witness Grammy nominated Freddie McGregor, Sugar Minott, Ken Boothe, and other honored roots and culture performers soulfully rock the crowd with hit culture songs.
In Photo: Anthony Cruz & Empress Doms
Carefully the genre drifted from vintage roots and reggae to 90’s and new age reggae without skipping a beat. This segment featured talented performers such as Tony Rebel, Bushman, Queen Ifrica, Etana, Tarrus Riley, and many others.
In Photo: Macka Diamond & Queen Ifrica
To watch them rock the crowd and still promote positivity as their cardinal message was astounding and very rare to see nowadays.
In Photo: Assassin
Dancehall reggae music was not left out of this successful festival. They had performers such as Sean Paul, Assassin, Spice, TOK, Chino, Laden, Blak Ryno, Jah Vinci, and many others.

Those that got to perform gave memorable performances sure to have people speaking about this event for months to come.
One of most preeminent people on the show “Mr. Vegas”, was confirmed to perform but didn’t due to reasons beyond his control. His fans were a little disgruntled, but the show had to go on. He did the right thing and apologized to his fans for disappointing them.
In Photo: Macka Diamond
Although some fans were shocked at how displeasing some of the performances were, they still supported the grand event and highlighted the best moments they witnessed.
This is an Annual Event and I am sure that the kinks will be worked out and the best is still yet to come! Irie Jam would like to thank all fans and supporters and ensures that your continued support is greatly appreciated.
I will see you next year in hopes of continuing the positive vibes and excitement of watching some of the best performers!
New music from Busy Signal called 'Black Belt' but I have mixed feelings about it. Maybe if I hear it a few more times...
I love his music and all.. but I don't know how comfortable I would feel about him leading a nation. And when I say him, I don't mean Busy in particular - but any artist for that matter.
I believe most of the citizens look up to artists so it may be easier for people to listen but most of the music coming out of the islands is about guns and war.
Busy Signal's point of view is accurate in terms of being a popular figure, relating to the citizens and living in similar conditions as the PEOPLE but I'm sure there is more to leading a nation than relating to the citizens.

Who said the Caribbeans in DC don't represent? WHO?
Anybody who was ANYBODY came out to see the show this year and it was a pleasure; lots of familiar and smiling faces, the weather was PERFECT and the food vendors put EXTRA love in the food because my roast fish with callaloo was scrumptious!
In Photo: DJ Super Slice & Cocoa Tea
This is the second year the promoters of the event has brought us this show and it just gets better and better every time.
In Photo: Empress Doms & Capleton
I am very proud to say that the show was very organized and ran smoothly - unlike any other Caribbean stage show I've EVER encountered! I don't even want to stress how many shows I've attended that was poorly organized; not enough wristbands, performers who never get a chance to perform, friends and family who get media passes who don't work for media, chaos, headache and STRESS!
The Reggae Summer Fest was on point - we as Caribbeans don't get that very often so we have to acknowledge it and be gracious when we get it - then cross our fingers and hope it happens more often..
In Photo: Jovi Rockwell
In Photo: Capleton
The lineup included Jovi Rockwell, I Wayne, Nesbeth, Beenie Man, Capleton, Marcia Griffiths, Cocoa Tea, Terry Linen, The Itals, andMahmoud Ahmed - a good show full of positive vibes, without a doubt this is something to bring the children out to experience!
In Photo: Empress Doms & Marcia Griffiths
I arrived at the venue, right in time to see the lovely Marcia Griffiths perform - and she is definitely well respected and appreciated in the industry. She is credited for some of reggae's CLASSICS like, 'Fire Burning' and of course, 'No, No, No' but you can't forget her as the originator of the 'Electric Boogie (Electric Slide)' - everybody knows how to do the electric slide but you gotta give this lady respect - without her, it wouldn't have existed!!
Cocoa TEA!! I love his music and made the crowd go crazy with one of my FAVORITE old school classics, 'Good Life'! Meeting him was also a pleasure - he seem to be such a sweet man. A sweet man with a sweet voice who sings sweet music!
Beenie Man closed the show out and commemorated his achievement of serving 30 years in the industry. The crowd LOVED Beenie's performance and his only moment of privacy was when he was ON STAGE! Before he made it to the stage fans FLOCKED him, begging for pictures, hugs, and even whispered sweet nothings in his ear while his bodyguards were on attack mode in case anyone got out of line! Who let all of the groupies backstage?! LOL Then again, that was probably EXACTLY what the DOCTOR ordered!
The show was fun and I look forward to see what the crowd is going to look like next year.. but really, I can't wait to see the LINEUP for next year!!!
Reggae Summer Fest is helping to make reggae music more distinct in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area by introducing the area to a REAL reggae festival.. clearly an untapped market!
