KYMANI MARLEY RELEASES STATEMENT REGARDING 'DEAR DAD' BOOK

When I first heard about the release of this book, I already knew it was going to be a bestseller, along with everything else that's released under the last name, 'Marley'.

I was also expecting a lot of controversy, mainly because of the title, 'Dear Dad: Where's The Family In Our Family, Today? - The Story The Marley Family Apparently Doesn't Want You To Know'

The book has been released only a few days ago but Kymani Marley has already made a statement saying that the pages are filled with unauthorized edits.

"I've done many things that I am not proud of. I have turned what was largely a destructive lifestyle and turned it into a constructive one. I chose to share my story with the hope that many may be moved to something more positive by the end of the book.

I partnered with a gentleman, Dr. Farrah Gray, who I grew to have a great deal of respect for. My journey writing the book was initially very easy and I thought we had built a relationship of respect, if nothing else.

During the final edit of the book, I spoke with my sister, Cedella, and I advised Dr. Farrah Gray that some changes had to be made and until the changes were made, I was not willing to do any promotion for the book. I could NOT support and promote something that is not 100% mine and that I believe in. Dr. Gray apparantly thought that by turning something that was written from the heart into something seemingly malicious was going to benefit him in some way.

I did not mean to hurt anyone... The book was only to tell my story, as I know it... What I was led to believe while growing up. The book was not an attack on my family! I love my brothers and sisters more than anyone can know.

I did not expect that Dr. Gray would have unprofessional and malicious in twisting my words or using things that were discussed in confidence to create controversy in an attempt to sell a book.

I did NOT authorize him to make any changes to the cover of my book nor do I condone any of the captions he has written!

At this point I do not know if the content of the book has been altered in any way due to the fact that I have not communicated with Dr. Farrah Gray in over a month because he has neither accepted nor returned any of my phone calls."

I believe Kymani.. when I did some research on Dr. Farrah Gray -- his fake smirk while selling get rich quick books didn't sit too well with me.

Im actually going to barnes and nobles to buy this book today, and i have to read it for myself before i could come to any conclusions. Kymani might just be feeling a case of regret for putting some things out there that he now feels sorry for, but its too late. The pages have been written. This book is a must read and I will give you guys the scoop when im finished reading it!

I've read the book. It's entertaining but lots of things don't seem genuine. I'm sure Kymani did have it rough but he wasn't the only child of Bob to be born outside of his marriage with Rita. I don't see Damian, Julian, Robert, or Karen complaining much. It seems that Kymani wants for whatever reason to let the world know how bad he had it. It's evident in his music; he always wants it known that he grew up poor. Like Rakim said "it ain't where you're from it's where you at." Now he's a million-are. He's also just 33. He didn't really need, in my opinion, to tell of his life story just yet; especially regarding family problems which should not be made public in the first place. In the end it's all about money. If he was really keeping it real and was really humble like he portrays himself to be, he would never have aired out his family problems to the world. Bob would be upset I'm sure with the way his other children were treated as second class citizens by Rita, but also that these personal problems are being made public. No family is perfect, including the Marleys; but do we all really need to know about it? I'd rather just enjoy the music if the message is pure. And at the same time, I'm a hypocrite for buying the book. Peace.

Bottom is that what is told in the book is true and it needed to be told. Every fan of Bob's music needs to know the truth of the story and how Rita is one evil greedy woman, who uses Bob's money to not help the less fortunate but to open exclusive resorts and treat Bob's flesh and blood like garbage. Why did some children get better treatment than others...who knows? I'm sure Rita loved that Rohan was a star football player. Keep in mind the Marley kids including Ziggy had to sue Rita when she sold bootleg tapes to the AMJ Japanese record company so that she could pocket the money all to herself. Don't hate on Ky-Mani b/c he told his story. This was his way of getting it off his chest and moving on. He should not have to keep this bottled up until he is older etc... Fact of the matter is that of Bob were alive Rita would be so long gone out of the picture and Ky-Mani and the others would have been taken care of.

I don't think Rita's an evil woman. Don't hate on her, can't have been easy being her. Try putting yourself in her shoes for a minute.

For instance, can you imagine how it must have been standing there singing backing vocals to some of the world's most beautiful love songs, songs your husband has made for other women? How much do you think that hurts?

I think situations like that are bound to create a lot of bitterness, it's only natural that she's bitter to Bob's mistresses. Of course it's wrong of her to take it out on the children, they're totally innocent in all of this, and I feel truly sorry for Kymani and the others who have been treated bad. But unfortunately bitter persons do wrong and evil things. Of course she should be a better person and rise above it, but honestly, I doubt many of us would be able to.

Of course the way she's treated them is wrong. But as I see it, a big part of the responsibility for this mess is Bob's own.

Wow the irony of it all. Kymani does the same thing to his own. My nephew that he never sees and never sends a penny to. How about that...what a hypocrite.

No-one truly knows another persons inner/outer life journey, feelings, joys ...or pains, but humans seem intent on judgement and attack.

All we can do is.. stay away from people who cause us any type of pain (if we are able to), have the human right to express that pain.. and do whatever we have to do ...in order to survive our own personal life journey.

If that upsets the apple cart of peoples delusions or stirs it up a bit, then at least a truth has been allowed into the light for people to be enlightened. Too much pain has been brushed under the carpets for too long. Even the hypocrites have a book inside of them. Everybody does.

Peace. X

I'm in the process of reading the book now...awww, I agree with GanjaGus, much of the story seems a little hyped. However, I respect Kymani for choosing to let go, air his dirty laundry and move on. I'm actually a fan of Kymani's, always have been...gwaan do di ting my yute!

Kymani's story should have been told the way HE wanted it told. Dr. Gray should be ashamed of himself! NO respect Mr Gray but I hope you didn't start a feud between Kymani and his other siblings. Whatever or However you may have felt he should be treated should've been just that 'your feelings' not what should have been portrayed in Kymani's Book! -Jah Bless Kymani- »one love« babygyrl
