So.. if you don't know by now, let me be the one to tell you.
Vybz Kartel was finally released after being detained in custody for about two weeks for questioning during Jamaica's longstanding 'State Of Emergency'.
Which, by the way, I don't really understand why Jamaica is STILL in a State of Emergency now that they finally caught up with Dudus.
Well, Kartel's lawyer is not letting this one pass without a FIGHT!
Attorney at law, Valerie Neita-Robertson states that police officials have overstepped their boundaries by holding Vybz Kartel for such a long time which ultimately led to him losing several contracts for shows he was expected to perform.
Valerie stated, "They do not respect or regard authority. They have no respect for anybody, and this has to stop. From what was told to me, utterances were made to certain media personnel by police officers that they were not releasing him until today (Saturday). I would draw a conclusion from that they didn't want him to meet his engagement."
She also stated that the detention order which Kartel was served did not have a reason as to why he was being detained and the interview with Kartel was very general, they had no specific offense that they wanted to question him about.
"When an order is given under the law, then the law must have its course. Police cannot just decide that they are not doing what they are supposed to do and we sit back and accept it. We want to cooperate and want crime to do down, but we will not put up with this slackness!"
