BUJU BANTON WILL BE LEAVING A DANGEROUS PENITENTIARY IN TEXAS FOR A SAFER PRISON IN MIAMI FLORIDA

The amount of times authorities moved Buju Banton from state to state, from cell to cell, you would think he was still on tour!  From Florida to Oklahoma, to Texas then back to Oklahoma and now he is on his way to a  prison cell in Miami, Florida -- and hopefully that's where he'll stay.

Remember a few months back, they even planned to move him to Mississippi, but those plans fell through once they realized that a co-defendent on the same trial had already been assigned to that facility.  Because of this, they decided to have him moved to an institution located in Groesbeck, Texas.

Thankfully, Judge Moody as well as the Jamaican Consulate urged the Federal Bureau of Prisons to have him moved from Texas to a safer setting in Miami, Florida.

Not only is it easier for him to arrange visits from friends and family, but it was also said by his attorney, David Oscar Markus that the previous location he was assigned to was very violent.

According to David, "He was at one of the worst places you can imagine -- a county facility that had been converted to house federal inmates... The place was used for short-stay Mexican nationals who were going to be deported.  It was filled with Mexican gangs.  Buju was one of very few black men in there.  It was very violent."
He continued on to say, "We're very appreciative that Judge Moody stood by his initial recommendation that Buju should be in Miami and he made a point to comment that Buju is a peaceful person and shouldn't be housed in a violent facility."
