ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST! MR. LEXX GETS US VISA REVOKED!

Mr. Lexx is the latest artist to add to the list of Dancehall musicians who had their United States visa revoked with no actual reasoning as to why.

Back when Aidonia, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and the rest of them had their visas revoked, everyone seemed to link it to the whole Dudus extradition.  But now that Dudus is in the United States, right were the government wanted him... why didn't any of these artists get their visas back???

Instead, they seem to be extending the list by adding Mr. Lexx to it.  When he was contacted to speak about the issue, he had no comment, so wandering minds are beginning to think it may have something to do with the sexual assault case he picked up about a year ago.

Even though Mr. Lexx won the assault case over the accuser.. it's the closest to criminal activity that we've ever seen from him so who knows??

I guess the visa belongs to the United States so they can take it back whenever they want. :/

PLAYLIST: LISA HYPER - MUST GET MINE [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

The main thing that I rate about Lisa Hyper is that she's a FIGHTER!

You know how many talented artists think that all they need is a few lyrics, a strong voice and some studio time to become a star?  Most people don't realize that talent is just half the battle!  You need to be persistent, disciplined, and resilient to make it in this world..regardless of what you want to do with your life.

Some people don't even have talent and still have the whole ah Jamaica ah chew pon dem name like wrigleys.  We live in a world where LA LEWIS is making money from selling t-shirts with his face on it... that just goes to show you that persistence will probably take you further than anything else.

In THESE streets, it's called The Survival Of The Fittest so I put my game face on and WON'T give up the fight!  I MUST GET MINE!!!!

RED JET IS SET TO LAUNCH FLIGHTS THROUGHOUT THE CARIBBEAN STARTING AT $9.99 EACH WAY

Why am I so skeptical?

May 8th is right around the corner!  That's when the new Caribbean airline, Red Jet will be launching their very first flight.  With prices as low as $9.99 to travel throughout the Caribbean you know that this is a company that will gain popularity fast.

I even checked out their website, so including taxes and fees it's roughly $100 USD to take a roundtrip flight from Jamaica to Trinidad.. which, I must agree, it's a great deal!

But I still don't see myself patronizing them until a few years down the road.  I have to see a track record of success, and nothing in the news about any malfunctions for me to feel comfortable with switching from more reputable brands such as Air Jamaica.

Now with all that said, I wish it much success because I always appreciate a new Caribbean owned business and I hope that their in the industry for years and years to come but I can't genuinely offer my support until around 2013 when I see the stats.

PLAYLIST: CHINO - SEAL THE LINK

I really love this song..

Ever since I heard it I've been hooked.  Just to show you that the Big Ship will forever sail.

Starting with Freddie McGregor, whose lasting legacy started back in the 60's... Chino on the vocals, and Di Genius who produced this riddim as well as most of the riddims circulating around Jamaica.. you just know that this is an inevitable chain reaction.

The big ship is sailing, steadily and at lightning speed.. so watch out!

RED STRIPE RETURNS AS A MAJOR SPONSOR OF THE 19TH STAGING OF REGGAE SUMFEST

Remember back when Red Stripe said they will no longer support dancehall or reggae events??  I don't know how you took it, but I was offended!

They pulled their sponsorship from all the major stage shows and made it seem like they were better off.  Yeah, that was until they realized that their competitors were quickly taking their place.  Right around the same time they began to realize the loss of revenue they were facing.

That was when they began to recognize that not only should they be appreciative and supportive of events like this but that they also benefit from being a part of the dancehall movement.

So on the brighter side, Red Stripe decided to humble themselves and come back as one of the major sponsors of the 19th staging of Reggae Sumfest alongside power players such as Digicel and the Jamaica Tourist Board.

I was disappointed that they left... but I'm just happy they saw the er in their ways and is back!!  Jamaica supports them so they should, in return, support Jamaica!  I believe in reciprocity.

PLAYLIST: CATEGORY 5 RIDDIM MEDLEY - VARIOUS ARTISTS [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Just about every tune on the CATEGORY 5 RIDDIM sell off!!  Not to mention it's BRAND NEW!!  They wasted NO time to drop a video and that's how I like it. Moving promptly and on time!

Serani got me doing that little dance at work, Mavado got me quoting lyrics like he's a prophet, and I really rate Bugle's tune because I can relate to it but how did he switch up his voice like that??  That doesn't even sound like auto-tune, that straight up sound like a who new person!!  What kinda programming did they use to get results like that??

PLAYLIST: DAMIAN "JR GONG" MARLEY + NAS - PROMISE LAND [OFFICIAL VID]

I want to someday visit the "PROMISE LAND"..

Nas & Damian Marley did a good thing by pushing a remake to this tune.  I've always liked the song and I'm really feeling the video.  And big up to SPRAGGA BENZ, it's definitely not a surprise to see him make a guest appearance in a video such as this one.

A few years ago, a friend of mine had a chance to visit "MAMA AFRICA" and she told me that the women loved cosmetics from the United States, she even bartered with the locals: her lipgloss and eye shadow for a pair of jeans!

That's a culture shock for me.

Africa is the birthplace of HUMANITY.  It is the home of the first tools, astronomy, jewelry, fishing, mathematics, crops, animal domestication, art, among many other things.  Why do you think they call it the Motherland? But, for some strange reason so many of us never visited and to make it worse, there's plenty of us whose not even interested in making the trip.

Well, I am!  I came from Kings and Queens and I wanna see what their life was like with my own two eyes. I want to embrace the culture and learn from it.  How will I know where I'm going if I have no idea where I came from?

I've had enough of the history books with their false teachings.  I'm ready to do my own investigation!

VETERAN ARTIST, BARRINGTON LEVY ANNOUNCES FINAL ALBUM

And he's going out with a BANG!

Although Barrington Levy realized early that his career in the music industry was never ending, he's decided upon himself to make "It's About Time" the final call.

But why??

A legend, an internationally recognized musician and an individual who probed the mainstream market is putting it to rest?  Clearly, he's still making hits so I just don't understand...

"It's About Time" will feature collaborations from some of the BEST in the music industry including, Beres Hammond, Buju Banton, Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss.

And let's not forget that he star's in the upcoming film, "GANGSTERS" which ultimately led to the hot new promo song featuring Vybz Kartel and Khago.

After 35 years in the business and recording a slew of hits, a legend who essentially became a household name is throwing in the towel and giving the new age artists a chance.

Sad, but true.

PLAYLIST: CHRISTOPHER MARTIN - PAPER LOVING [OFFICIAL VID]

It's TRUE!

Once people see the status, the fame, the fortune and the convertibles that's when they wanna jump ship.  This one is dedicated to the selfish opportunist.

If I'm not good enough for you NOW.. what the hell makes you think you'll be good enough for me LATER when I'm styling and profiling???  You just want somebody fi itch up pon!

PLAYLIST: TONY REBEL - LOVE SOLDIER [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

I just love how I can rate an artist like TONY REBEL from the days of, "FRESH VEGETABLE"and still  truly appreciate his modern day tunes.

There are legends who had big, big tunes back in the day that I even feel guilty for not liking their latest tunes.  Sometimes I just wanna give them a bligh because of their history.  You know you gotta show respect to the veterans.

But here is an artist that I never feel bias about.  I love his old tunes... I love his new tunes and it look like he got more in store for us for the future.

Check out Mr. Fresh Vegetable for yourself!   ===>>>

PLAYLIST: GREGORY ISAACS - LOVE IS OVERDUE

I see why they use to call him the "Lonely Lover".. He sang a whole heap of sad, sweet, love songs and I fell for each and every one of them!

I never had the pleasure of seeing him perform live but thanks to video clips his music and his performances live on.

Even though I'm from the "new" school, I surely appreciate my veterans.  You can really go down memory lane with tunes like this.. play it on repeat or just mix it up with a few tunes from Sugar Minott, Alton Ellis or Ken Boothe and your good to go!

PLAYLIST: ZJ LIQUID - TIGHTEST MEOW (ISLAND BREEZE RIDDIM)

The best thing that could have happened to ZJ LIQUID was get dropped from zip fm airways. I probably would have never gotten the chance to rate him as an artist. Definitely one of the better Selector-turn-Deejays on the scene these days.

But let's talk about the riddim! Something nice to bring in the Spring season, don't ya think? This one is called the Island Breeze riddim and when I close my eyes, that's all I see!!

A mini vacation with an old school flair!
