I remember loving the song but I didn't know who sang it so I started listening to EVERY Anthony B song.. I started to rate Anthony B, but I still couldn't find the song so I listened to EVERY Sizzla song.. I LOVED Sizzla, but I still couldn't find the song.
Before you knew it, I was a Roots and Culture fanatic.. but I still couldn't find THIS SONG! If it wasn't for my nephew I probably would have never found it, and look at this now, he had a video for it all along!

I get uncomfortable every time I even think about writing a post on the conspiracy against Spragga Benz being a person of interest in a triple murder case in Jamaica.
I don't even like his name attached to such erroneous claims. You can't just slander a man's name, defame his character, then say, "Oops!" and move along as if nothing ever happened!
Do you know what kind of stress they put his family, friends and fans under.... and not even release a public apology?!?!
But I wont even elaborate because I prefer to see my brother through a clearer lens, one that's not tarnished, one that looks like the man that I know.. doing things that I know he would do.
Spragga Benz has started a campaign encouraging fans worldwide to send letters to Judge James Moody to support leniency in the sentencing of Buju Banton. Buju is expected to go before the judge on June 23rd and we're looking for the best outcome possible.. given the situation.
Support the music, support the cause, and support the movement!
Honorable Judge Moody

Versatile and Chan Dizzy - two new artists that I rate individually, so to hear them on the same track makes it all the better.
This tune is hardcore, I told my friend to play it on her radio show and she said it was a bit much, not to mention the profanity. But I insisted! As a hardcore dancehall fanatic, something about the guns, the profanity, raw-ness and the sound effects is what I love about it! I figured my fellow dancehall fanatics would feel the same...
At least play the "edited" version!

I rate how Jamaica show their support for Japan during their time of need. The way that Japanese people love our music, our culture, food and island its only right to give that same love back to them... especially during times like this.
I just heard the dedication tune that a whole bunch of our big time veteran artists put out called, "STARTING OVER" and the video footage its cool... It reminds me of Michael Jackson when everyone came together for "We Are The World".
Artists like Luciano, King Yellowman, Tristan Palmer, Marcia Griffiths, Junior Reid, Dean Fraser, John Holt, Pinchers, Ken Boothe, Cocoa Tea, Josey Wales, U-Roy, Bunny Wailer, Little John, Half Pint, Tabby Diamond, and Carl Dawkins... all came out to support a great cause.
The way the world is running nowadays, you never know whose next. We just pray for the ones whose suffering, pray for strength and rush over with a bandaid with hopes that every little bit helps!
I get depressed just thinking about it! The idea of dealing with someone when their heart is still with a lover from the past...
That's surely not a position I want to be in.
Alone and left with a broken heart....

This one is for the true HERBALIST!
Or maybe not. This one is for EVERYONE, the economist, the environmentalist, the educator, the politician, and even the social smoker.
Here is an educational documentary on cannabis that I found very interesting. It talks about the benefits, not only from smoking it but it proves to be a better way for making loose-leaf paper, a better way for fueling our cars, a better way to prevent deforestation (which is the reason for climate change aka global warming), a better way for mending our clothes and even a better way to climb out of our economic crisis.
But it's ILLEGAL!
I remember when I was in college I did an elaborate presentation on "Legalizing Marijuana".. and I got an A!! :)
I still think my professor was a pot head.... but could I blame her!???!!
Enjoy the film.. but roll a BIG HEAD spliff before you watch it. Class is about to start and I hear marijuana strengthens your concentration so take your medicine while you watch the film!!
Knowledge is POWER!

SUGAR MINOTT's legacy lives on!!
Just yesterday I sat back and listened to a tribute mix of strictly Sugar Minott and it was the most peace I had in weeks!
This month is officially SUGAR MINOTT MONTH.. he was born on May 25th and that's his SPECIAL DAY so its OUR duty to keep his memory ALIVE. If your a DJ, play his tunes at your next party or on your radio show, if your an ARTIST, cover one of his tunes at your next show, if your a PROMOTER, do a tribute dance, if your a FAN, spread his music, photos, and legacy to a friend! Call in to your local radio stations and request his songs!
Everybody gets a chance to play a role!
I figured that everyone should have a nice collection close by with some SUGAR MINOTT classics, so in case your missing out, here's a few songs from his lengthy catalogue for you to enjoy on a nice Sunday afternoon.

Mi nah lie..
I don't even know when I became a Rihanna fan.. I swear it must ah happen overnight. Even her kinky whips and chains song called, "S&M" get me in a good mood so what can I say.
She got this new tune called, "Man Down" and I like it.. even more now that I know that she's recently shot the video for this one in Portland, Jamaica. It has a nice Caribbean sway to it and if you know Rhianna, you know you can't always rely on her to bust out with an accent and start shooting, but it's good to know that she'll always keep her roots!
For some reason this tune kinda remind me of Jazmine Sullivan when she released that song, "Need You Bad" with the little reggae beat in the back drop..
Yes, its true!
Jimmy Fallon will host a weeklong tribute to Bob Marley starting on May 9th running through May 13th with special guests like, Ziggy Marley, Lenny Kravitz, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Cornell and Jakob Dylan!
This commemoration will mark the 30th year anniversary since the death one of Jamaica's greatest legends, and will revive Bob Marley's memory, spirit and influence throughout the world.
I'm just excited to see the effect Bob Marley continues to have on music, art and entertainment throughout the world.. even 30 years after his death. It's definitely something to celebrate!
Be sure catch this weeklong tribute on NBC during the late night hours, 12:35am EST.
DID YOU KNOW: The lyrics to "WAR" came from a speech made by King Haile Selassie I??

Barrington Levy really had some big time hits back in the day!! Even now, he's still making tunes with some of the hottest artists on the scene. It's just a shame that he's about to release his final album, but I can't complain because his entire musical catalog is big enough to last me a while.
Barrington Levy is another artist that is overlooked way too often. I'm pretty sure he has a ton of other songs that you know and love and didn't even realize that it was him singing the song!! He definitely caught me off guard a time or two in the past and I refuse to believe that I'm the only one!

I support this movement!!
This whole "Nas & Damian Marley" thing that's going on with the tours, the music, the collaboration, the works!! I'm a huge fan of it.
Jr. Gong to the ZILLA working alongside Nas is epic. It's the perfect clash between the hip hop and reggae communities, something that's been in the works for a long, long time. But they're doing it the BEST and with a conscious twist!
Since Nas and Damian Marley are both successful and well established artists on their own, to me, it just seems like this collaboration is a natural transition rather than a forceful push. And that's the way it should be! Let the music naturally take you to the next level...
