This is also a wicked combination from Tarrus Riley and Sophia Squire, I especially love Sophia Squire because her sound is something I haven't heard in reggae for a looooooong time.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but SIZZLA KALONJI was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Runaway Bay, St. Ann.
A bus hit him off of his bike and he is now suffering from a broken collar bone and a broken finger.
He was rushed to St. Anns Bay hospital in serious condition but is now stable. Please everyone pray for a speedy recovery. Our prayers are with you Sizzla!
I rated the one dem call POPSKULL ever since I saw that old time video of him and Jah Vinci singing, "Life Lost" in the streets of JA. This was before Kartel even let Popcaan present music to the people, but the instant he DID!! Popcaan took the torch and ran with it!
Right now he is the leading artist out of the Gaza, under Kartel, of course and is being featured in a multitude of mainstream media outlets. One thing I love to see is that he seems to understand that although he is breaking through the dancehall market, he still has a lot to learn. From the music, the industry and his career as a whole. I like people who are humble because some of these overnight artists really believe they're on top of the world when dem not even reach outside ah JAMAICA yet!!

Most recently I was listening to some older Dancehall records and it brought me back to the days when everyone just loved to dance. The days when you went to a party and you just knew you were going to sweat because once you were there you never stopped dancing until you walked out the door.
Back when EVERY song had a dance to it!! The selector would just call a dance and the whole club would buss out their wickedest version and if you didn't know it you would just look to your left or to your right to see someone else do it and just imitate them.
LOG ON! ONLINE! JIGGY BODY! WEDDY WEDDY! OVER DI WALL! STUKIE! TEK WEH YUSELF! SUMMER BOUNCE! NUH LINGA! GULLY CREEPA! WILLIE BOUNCE! PON DI RIVER... Shall I go on or do you get the point?
The whole heap of them just made me smile just fi do and laugh when I didn't know what the hell to do!

I came across this comment in regards to Dancehall Queen Keiva the Diva's dance moves, "Good dancing: not just whining, pointless gyrating and slackness... dance steps that one can follow and perform..." That's what I miss... DANCE STEPS! I like whining just as much as the next girl but there needs to be a healthy mix of dancing and daggerin.

Not sure if it comes with age, but now everyone wants to just stand up and watch everybody else and the only people who seem to have a good time are those too drunk to remain on beat or just don't care who look at them too hard.
The ladies might buss a whine or do a quick two step but more than likely they are doing it by themselves or with their home girls.
Men have recently become allergic to women and do not know how to ask for a dance and if they do want to dance, they just grab you like they have no idea what real manners are. One of our FAVORITE artist just got back his VISA so it's no surprise that Irie Jam was able to pull Mavado to make his first appearances at the Reggae Rhythm & Blues Fest!!
BEENIE MAN will also be at ROY WILKINS PARK as the organizers honor his contribution to reggae and dancehall but unfortunately, since he has not yet obtained a work permit, he will not be PERFORMING on the show.

It's like Khago jus come fi mash up di place!!! The more I hear his music the more I rate him as an artist and with this new tune, "Tun Up" you can see why.
The video looks nice too, it's clean cut, and reminds me of that hilarious movie Hangover.

As of lately, I've been seeing way too much foolishness about "WIFEY VS MATEY" also known as Wife vs Mistress. I am hearing way too many songs like:
When I am at these parties and this song play, the DJ remixes it and calls out, "Wifey wash clothes, and matey hang up!!" and the selectors just laugh, big up di gyallis, and tell di crowd a man is supposed to have more than two women! Wah di rass!! Someone even had the nerve to create a Facebook group entitled, "Wifey vs. Matey vs. Sideline Ho" I never knew that Matey and Sideline Ho (SLH) was two different things. But here are a few different comments women have made to the group:

I would like to know what wife cleans n washes n cooks. Isn't that for the housekeeper or maid? I have been wifey, ho, matey, etc. And now I'm a wife. First off, how as a wife are you okay with your man's other woman providing for you and your household? And if di front so good, WHY DI MAN STRAY?!? Two, the young lady with the matey comment brave and bold fi true! Facebook is for faces and profile information so EVERYBODY with access to a computer now knows that you are sleeping with a married man and you are proud of it. No shame! Thirdly, how or why would you knowingly want to be with a man that you know is sleeping with someone else? You have no idea what kind of sex they're having or even if it is safe sex. I'd be DAMNED if there was a possibility that my man ah just eat some next gyal pums and try fi come kiss me in my mouth! Yuh Madd?!?
I am not sure if some women realize that they sound dumb as shit! Since when is it okay for a man to cheat and the woman is okay with it? Believe me I know the way of the world, men and relationships but in my opinion when it comes to relationships, when you accept shit, you get shit!! If you are being a wonderful, supportive, loving wife and your husband is out there cheating on you and you KNOW that he is cheating, why accept it? Men will only do to you what you allow them to.
Some say "Bun fi Bun!" I can't subscribe to that either. A loving relationship is not a competition, it's supposed to be about two people, not three, four, and five. Some say no matter what position you play, money haffi run! That is all well and good, but I also want the part that money cannot buy and that is a man's heart, love and admiration.

I feel that when a Jamaican boy becomes a man... one woman will be more than enough. There is nothing better than when a man can open up his heart and let that one girl in and realize that all the pleasures he can get from her in one kiss is more than what he can get from having sex with one hundred women. It is time that our boys grow up and our women realize that being a wifey means nothing is there is a mate or two in the corner because his body is your gift from God and only you should enjoy it, others should just look from afar.
Both positions are neither here nor there, because the truth is both women are mates to each other. Both are being used and taken advantage of by this man. He may even treat his alleged wife better, but really he is disrespecting her and his mistress. If a man truly loves and cares about his wife as he claims then he would never hurt and disrespect her by bringing another woman into their relationship. A real wife should not have to share her man because she is all he wants. Truly, in the end, if a man has a wife and matey he does not care for either, the only person he cares about is himself.

Uncle Sugar always told me that he would take me to Jamaica with him but it wasnt until his funeral when it actually happened. Of course, I've been to Jamaica before but I haven't been to the island in about 15 years until I had to make that last minute unexpected trip for such a sad occasion.
Even though I was in Jamaica for a depressing occasion, instead of mourning the death of my uncle, I decided to celebrate his life. 2010 was my first time visiting Jamaica in 15 years and I intended on making the most of it. I was so lucky that my niece knows the in's and out's of whats happening and has all the connections to get there so I was in good hands.

I was only able to go to ONE of the parties, which was the "PRETTY IN PINK" and it was the craziest, most exciting experience of my LIFE!! By far the MOST FUN I've ever had at any party EVER!! That says a lot from someone who parties OFTEN!! But of course, I didn't come to Jamaica to party in Negril, I came to Jamaica for a funeral in Kingston so I had to take my sample of ATI and just hope I can experience it the RIGHT WAY on another day.

One thing I have to say is JAMAICANS KNOW HOW TO PARTY!!!!! If there was a rule book on it, I promise you, a Jamaican would be the author! It was so festive and lively, way more exciting and entertaining than any event I've gone to in the United States. They had different themes each night, gave out glow sticks, mascarade masks, there was fireworks, balloons of fire floating in the sky and there was people one foot lighting blow torches!!

Every event had something a little different. I didn't even get a chance to go to ALL of the parties for the weekend so I'm sure there's a few things I missed along the way, but it's alright because I'll be back next year!!

But next time, I'll do certain things a little differently.
NUMBER 1
I loved the hotel that I stayed in, but it was on the WEST END, which meant that it was about 15mins from the beach area. In Negril without a rental car meant that we had to grab a taxi any time we left out which proved to be an inconvenience and a bit pricey. Next time around, I'll be sure to stay on the beach so I can be within walking distance to all of the festivities.
