LUCIANO BOTTLED WHILE PERFORMING ON STAGE AT THE 2011 CARNIRIV IN NIGERIA

Yo! Mi nuh like how dem a diss diss up mi artist yuh know?!!

Africa as a whole is notoriously known for their love of Reggae music but for some strange reason, this past Saturday when reggae sensation Luciano performed at the 2011 CARNIRIV in Nigeria, he did not receive the love that is usually expected.

Instead of love and praises, Luciano was pelted with empty water bottles.  Some say that they were not comfortable with his kind of music.. but what does that mean?  Luciano is known for his kindred spirit and righteous music.  He was very shocked by the hostile attitude and questioned,

"What is happening? You don't want me?  I was told that CARNIRIV is an event to showcase African Culture and that is why I'm here for you... I am a messenger of God; don't you want the message?  I was in Ethiopia, they received me.  I was in Gambia, they received me.  Why won't you receive your brother?"

But even with his speech, those who did not appreciate his performance continued to bombard the stage with objects.

I hope that moments like this will never discourage THE MESSENJAH from continuing on his path.  Some people are just disgusting and disrespectful.

** STING 2011 ** POPCAAN || KIPRICH VS MERCILESS || TWINS OF TWINS VS TONY MATTERHORN || IYARA VS DEVA BRATT (LIVE PERFORMANCE)

Boxing Day in Jamaica is synonymous to one of the greatest entertainment shows of the year, STING!!  Every year STING brings out the best of the best in the dancehall regime, some artists use the night to showcase their immaculate talents, while others use it to "KILL" their competitors even in the daylight!!

Thousands upon thousands of fans come out to fully enjoy their night, the holidays, the good vibes, the war zone and of course the great music.

I've come to understand that some of the heavy hitters in the industry did not make it to STING last night, artists like Mavado, I Octane, Assassin and Beenie Man, which was a disappointment to some but some of our favorites like Aidonia, Popcaan and Bounty Killer were there to give strong performances!  Tony Matterhorn "MURDA" Twins of Twins.  Kiprich rinse off Merciless... what else, what else...

Check out the below performances and tell me what you think:

LOOKING FORWARD TO CELINE DION'S PERFORMANCE AT THE 2012 JAMAICA JAZZ AND BLUES FESTIVAL

What an excitement!! Jamaican promoter Walter Elmore's Art of Music Productions (AMP) has confirmed that the one and only, CELINE DION is officially booked for the 2012 Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival!

My sister and her husband decided to spend their anniversary there the MOMENT they found out the amazing news, so that means that I will be on babysitter duty.. but I don't even mind, I understand what a performance from Celine Dion means to a true Jamaican!

If you don't already know, one of the most popular genre's of music in Jamaica is SOUL!  And Celine Dion is on the top of the list!!  Surprisingly in a statement, Celine Dion said that this would be her VERY FIRST TIME visiting Jamaica.  She will be in for quite a surprise once she realizes that she has a very strong fan base in Jamaica.
"I am looking forward to doing my very first show in the Caribbean and this is an honor for me to perform at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival.  What a beautiful way to meet the people of Jamaica on this, my first trip to the island.  I just can't wait!"
The festival is scheduled to run from January 26th to the 28th with Celine Dion's exciting performance on the Friday night.

The 2012 Jamaica, Jazz and Blues Festival is going to be EPIC to say the least, since 2012 is the year that Jamaica will celebrate 50 years of independence, the opening night of the festival is dedicated to all of the different variations of reggae music over the past 50 years including Ska, Rocksteady, Dancehall and Reggae.

PLAYLIST: PETER TOSH - BURIAL [LIVE PERFORMANCE]

We hear so much about Bob Marley that we seem to overlook other notables during that same era.  Peter Tosh is a prime example.  I can't speak for everybody else but I didn't even know that he died at gunpoint during a robbery.  To make it worst, the person who pulled the trigger was someone Peter Tosh befriended and helped to find work after a long jail bid.

Now that's a true disgrace.  Not to mention, he died on 9/11.

Lord, please remove the front teeth of all my enemies so that I can identify them by their smile.  Keeping a fake friend in the circle is LETHAL!!

HOW DOES THE GRAMMY'S CHOOSE THE NOMINEES FOR THEIR REGGAE CATEGORY??

By: Amlak

When you mention the Grammy's, it immediately invokes the thoughts of prestige and stature, but if you dig a bit deeper then you would realize that the inner workings behind the scenes is not as glamorous, especially when it comes to choosing the nominees for the reggae category.

Upon close inspection by our detectives here at TheWickedestTime.com, we have come to a conclusion that the Grammy nominations for the reggae category is not so much bias as it is, how can I describe it, retro and outdated.  It has come to our attention that the reggae nominees are the only reggae artistes that the decision makers know about!

I recently came across a video that explained precisely this concept - that the decision makers only nominate reggae artists they're familiar with.  Unfortunately, since dancehall / reggae music is not heavily portrayed in mainstream media these same decision makers don't have much to choose from.  This is not fair to other artiste who consistently put out great albums, for example, Spragga Benz's Shotta Culture, which I thought was a very good album.

I'm not saying that the recent winners were not deserving of their nominations, but it would be nice to see more variety, to see more of our dancehall artiste getting more recognition than what they are getting now, and it seems like the only way this is going to happen is if the public let their feelings be known in every way possible.

Here is the video I am referring to, tell me what you think about this.

PLAYFUL OR TRAUMATIZING? "THIS IS WUT HAPPENS WEN MY BABY HITS ME BACK.." - ANDRE CURRY

Friends of the father of this child stated that he would never actually hurt anyone.  But after he posted this picture on his facebook page with the quote, "This is wut happens wen my baby hits me back. ; )" it worried some of his facebook friends, one of which forwarded this photo the the local police.

Although investigations continue, he has not been arrested but Child Protective Services are now involved.

What's your take on this?  One of his friends, Je'Vanna Cobbins stated, "He was being playful with his child... people play with their children differently."

PLAYLIST: CHRIS MARTIN - CHEATERS PRAYER [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Chris Martin released a song that EVERYONE thought of,  but no one talked about. The "Cheaters Prayer" has been on the minds of many so it was no surprise that since the release, this song has made it to the top of the charts with no hint of faltering in sight.

Right on time, Chris Martin took the opportunity to do a video and this is result.  The video is hot, the production is great, and I'm just wondering if Cecile's counteraction to this song will receive the same amount of recognition.

KHAGO LAUNCHES THE RICARDO GAYLE EDUCATION FOUNDATION

It's a beautiful thing when you see someone move towards success, and even a better thing when they don't forget who supported them in those "early days", they don't forget the ones who helped to get the ball rolling, it's a wonderful thing when they don't forget where they came from.

You know how some people "get rich and switch"?!  Well, that's not something we have to worry about when it comes to the ever so talented, Khago.

In fact, during an interview his publicist, Claude Mills, he stated, "Khago is a very spiritual youth, and because of this year's progression, he felt obliged to give back to the people who supported him."

He continued on to say, "He will perform at schools in St. Ann and also give personal donations in the event that he can.  However, he also plans on sending letters to corporate entities to join the foundation and assist with the provision of computers and other learning equipment."

Growing up, Khago dealt with a lot of struggles and felt that a stronger educational background would have made a difference, "He didn't have much schooling so that's why he wants to support education, so that children don't have to endure a similar experience to his," Mills said.

Education is key and knowledge is power!

PLAYLIST: STEPHEN MARLEY & DAMIAN "JR GONG" MARLEY - IT WAS WRITTEN [LIVE PERFORMANCE]

Yes, it was written in the book of life!

If you sit and listen to the words in this song you would be able to see the depth in the lyrics.  I really like the part where he says, "Your body is just a vehicle transporting your soul.."  It just reminds me that its the soul that counts, not the flesh, not the exterior, and definitely not the material things in life.

The Marley's are so talented!  When I was younger, I didn't appreciate their music as much as I do now.  Of course, I was a fan of Bob Marley.. but as far as the music from his children, I didn't really get it back then.  But NOW?!

It's true... you live and you learn.

I'm curious, what's your favorite song from the Marley's (outside of BOB MARLEY)?

MIXTAPE DOWNLOAD: TAJJI "READY FI MINE" MIXTAPE VOL#1

One of the hottest mixtapes in my CD changer right now comes from a young man named TAJJI hailing from the Red Square Camp.   Although he is new to the game, he is gaining recognition on a global level and his recent release on the School Fee Riddim entitled, "WORLDWIDE" proves that he's reaching for the stars!

With strong endorsements from experts such as Spragga Benz and newer artists like I Octane, you feel confident when you embrace his music.  Before I started to listen to him I already knew he would be good.  Now with this mixtape as proof, he makes you feel proud about the new generation of artists.

So check him out in the video below and if music yuh seh, click this link to download the "READY FI MINE" mixtape. Tajji to di WORLD!!!

PLAYLIST: COLLIE BUDDZ + SEAN PAUL - ON MY WAY BACK HOME (LYFE TURN RIDDIM)

Collie Buddz doesn't play when it comes to defending sensimillia.   His debut single back in 2006 was  "Come Around" which was the weed anthem of the year and here he is in 2011 on a hot collaboration with Sean Paul that promotes a similar message.

With a name like Collie Buddz, it's obvious where his loyalty lies.

When you're finish listening to this tune, click here to learn more about the tree of life!

PLAYLIST: BUSY SIGNAL - MISSING YOU (HEART & SOUL RIDDIM)

Here we are again with another example of how the heart and soul of reggae music is still right here, where it belongs. Ladies, if you've missed the sounds of Busy Signal, no worries, he's missing you too!!

I love this one because it puts me in a sexy romantic mood and there's no telling what it will do for you!  Fellas, play this song for your lady and see what happens (hint, hint).  I'm pretty sure Busy Signal received nuff seductive phone calls once this track was released!

I really hope there will be a video to follow up this tune because it was just released a few weeks ago and it's proving to be a favorite.  The request lines are ringing, the track is on replay and the reviews are amazing.

Who's on your mind when you hear this song?

RIP TO A FALLEN SOLDIER -- SUPER PRODUCER, PHILIP "FATTIS" BURRELL

How unfortunate it is to admit that popular producer and CEO of Xterminator Records has passed away.  Not only was he Sizzla's manager, but he played a major role in establishing the careers of some of the greatest in the reggae industry such as Luciano, Pinchers, Sizzla and Sanchez.

Two weeks ago, Fattis suffered a mild stroke and was kept at University Hospital of West Indies where matters got worse, soon after a blood clot was discovered near his lungs.  By Saturday morning, he slipped into a coma and sadly succumbed to the complications later that evening.  Fattis was only 57 years old.

We at The Wickedest Time would like to express our deepest condolences and support to the family and friends of the late, great, Philip "FATTIS" Burrell.  May his soul rest peacefully.

PLAYLIST: I SASHA - DON'T YOU KNOW [OFFICIAL VID]

I Sasha?? Where are YOU??

I really don't want to think of you as a 'one hit wonder' but you just disappeared once you dropped this song..

The way I loved this single when it first came out is simply indescribable and the world was hip to it, everybody had their ring tones set to it, and my red, white and blue (AMERICAN) roommate LITERALLY played this song about 1,000 times per day.

And what a pleasant surprise!  All this time and I never knew that a video was made for it!! It just turns my love for this song up about 10 notches..

I Sasha!! Come out, come out, wherever you are!!

(DEC. 1ST IS WORLD AIDS DAY) -- BE SAFE NOT SORRY!!

By: EMPRESS DOMS

Today is WORLD AIDS DAY.

A day where we want to spread the awareness, not the disease. AIDS is the MOST destructive epidemic in recorded history.

Believe it or not but SOMEONE YOU KNOW is infected with HIV so stop acting like it can't happen to you and WEAR A CONDOM! Think about the decisions you make. Do you know him? Do you know her?! Why would you have unprotected sex with someone that you KNOW is promiscuous? If you don't trust his/her fidelity why would you jeopardize your life by having unprotected sex?

Don't let the pretty face or the money flow fool you.. DENNIS BROWN died from AIDS, SQUINGY died from AIDS, FELA KUTI died from AIDS! Can you imagine how many SEXY females they had sex with? Do you have any idea how many SEXY men these same females also had sex with? Do you see the trend??

Not talking about it will not make it go away. The only thing that you can do is protect yourself, and you know whats RIDICULOUS?! You KNOW that AIDS is a lethal killer but you still have sex "raw dawg", people still share needles.. SHARE NEEDLES?! does that even make sense? Whether it's needles for taking drugs, needles for tattoos, or needles for diabetes testing, sharing needles with ANYONE is dangerous so don't put yourself in that position.

Remember that YOUR health comes FIRST! Before anything or ANYONE!  So please, ladies and gentlemen, be safe not sorry.

(DEC. 1ST IS WORLD AIDS DAY) -- "HIGHLIGHTING AN EPIDEMIC ONCE A YEAR IS NOT ENOUGH" -- AMLAK

By: Amlak

Today is "World AIDS Day" and we here at The Wickedest Time is in full recognition of it because of the importance that this day stands for.  However, it is my personal opinion that we as people should begin to pay more attention to this epidemic on a daily basis -- not just on this specific day.

Highlighting an epidemic on one day followed by silence on the other 364 days is not good enough. Although the majority of the world should be well aware of this disease, many people are still ignorant to many of the other problems that come with having AIDS.  Problems like the side effects that medications can have on the human body, the effects that AIDS itself can have on one's health, the overwhelming mental effects, how to get help if these problems develop plus many more issues that the majority are unaware of.

We must try to do a lot more in educating the worlds population about one of the most deadliest diseases out there because it is obvious that people are still being infected at an alarming rate.  With little education about how to protect yourself or how to deal with the situation if you are infected, escalation of this problem is inevitable.

My hope is that world government will begin to do more to help the population in their respective countries and stop paying attention to greed.  And even though few are reluctant to say it, population reduction tactics.

My condolences goes out to the people that have lost loved ones to this terrible man-made disease and also to those who are infected by it.

ONE LOVE

(DEC. 1ST IS WORLD AIDS DAY) -- A MESSAGE FROM MONA, "AIDS IS REAL"

When I got the call from my Editor to write something for World AIDS Day, I honestly had no words that I could write that had not been written time and time again.

As I thought long and hard about this article, the one thing that I wanted to remind you is that "AIDS is REAL" and that is some of the best advice I could have received in relation to this topic.  Too many people love to think that they are untouchable and that they could never be affected by such a disease.   However,  if you ever had the misfortune to know someone who has been taken too early by this disease you would know that one night full of passion is not worth a lifetime full of pain.

AIDS is real and it is up to you to be responsible; use protection, get tested on a regular basis, and only indulge in those that are truly worthy of holding the rest of your life in the palm of their hands, don't be blind to a pretty face and nice smile.
