Yes, ladies and gentleman. It's THAT GOOD!!
Here is just another example of how the creations of our fellow Jamaicans are extorted and reproduced for the masses! I'm kind of kidding when I say this, but in reality, it's true.
When the food firm WANIS lost their rights to import the delicious pickapeppa sauce they thought outside of the box by recreating their own version of the recipe, printing fake labels and selling about 30,000 bottles of the counterfeit sauce over the course of 16 months throughout Britain.
It wasn't until a devout fan of the sauce complained to Pickapeppa's Jamaican producers about the change in taste, wondering why it seemed sweeter than usual.
Upon investigation, they found WANIS guilty of concocting fraudulent sauce and bottling for resale. The British food firm was fined over $80,000 pounds ($127,000 USD or $11 million JMD)
Now, I wonder if the authentic producers of the Pickapeppa sauce received damages for their loss...?

I contacted Pickpeppa by email to see what they intended to do about the copycat sauces. I saw that they opened my email but did not reply. I guess they are doing nothing at all.
I live in East London and the supermarkets and shops are flooded with copycat caribbean products. Some of the products are made to look like they are made in the caribbean. The manufacturers are actually the same people who claim to be distributing caribbean produce. The are crooks who are getting away creaming off huge profits on replica goods because nobody stops them.
Interestingly enough, most of the distributors are asians that have no respect for caribbeans and they do nothing to give back to the communities that buy their products day after day. It makes me sick.
We need to reject the products that fake and seek out our own brands and give them more support.
The Caribbean brands need to be market aware and spend a little money on raising awareness of their goods so that they can sell more and get products into the major supermarkets without the help of the distributors(crooks)
wow thats crazy! You would think they would care enough to respond. Hopefully theyre behind the scenes working on rectifying the problem. Im surprised that bootlegged products are literally flooding the markets. I really didnt know it was that bad until now...
