I remember this song from back in the days and I've loved it ever since. Capleton alongside Yami Bolo is a great combination. I don't hear too much from Yami Bolo these days but the message is clear... and always have been.
They've been singing the message for a while but I don't see much of a difference from the way things were to the way things are now. Everyday we talk about how things have gotten worse, the crime rate, the spread of disease, the death toll, the economy, the environment, the politicians, the corruption and the list goes on and on.
We hear about it on the news, we talk about it to each other but what has changed? We pray for a better tomorrow but when will tomorrow arrive?
Now that we have spread the word, now that we know what needs to be done, whose turn is it to put in the hard labor?
It was a gun that killed Trayvon Martin, a gun that assassinated Martin Luther King Jr. It is the sound of a gun that I hear through my apartment window. I'm tired of the real life horror stories. The ones where babies are shot, by mistake. The ones where our local small businesses are robbed at gunpoint. The ones where our soldiers don't make it back home to their families.
We see it so often in the movies that we've become numb to the reality, but this is real. This is the story of our lives.
