Earlier this month, Imagenation featured the official NYC premiere of an amazing film entitled, "BETTER MUS COME", produced by Paul Bucknor and written by Storm Saulter. If you see this movie being promoted in your area, make sure you're first in line to get a ticket because seats sell out very quickly! And don't worry, if you're still learning the Patois dialect you will be happy to know that the film has captions for you to read along.
From the moment I walked into The Lincoln Center I was very impressed with the type of environment I was in. I am surely a fan of the finer things and I was proud of the respect the film was given. What a way di place PLUSH!!
The moment I walked in, there was an usher to greet and escort me to my seat. Even though the place was filled to capacity I didn't have to do any weird maneuvering just to get myself situated. Thank you, you sure know how to treat a girl! :)
I got there right in time to see the exclusive performance from Mr. Vegas which set a great tone for the rest of the evening, check out the clip below:
I've been looking forward to this movie for a while so I was beyond excited when I had my perfect seat to see a production that will be classified amongst epic titles like, "Rockers", "The Harder They Come", "Shottas" and "Country Man".
Better Mus Come jolted all types of emotions in me, which is what a good movie does. I am very proud to see such a creation coming out of Jamaica because it is yet another sign that this little island has gems that will conquer all corners of this globe.
Better Mus Come takes place in Jamaica during the 1970s at the height of election season. It highlights the tone of Jamaica during these times which is something many foreigners know nothing about.
Without films like this, many first world citizens would never be able to grasp what it's really like living in a place like Jamaica, especially during a time where the air is so tense and your front gate is a war zone.

It comes down to a point where if you support a certain candidate, you're not even allowed into the "other" neighborhood without being subjugated to violence... and possible death. This is serious!
Better Mus Come is also a sweet love story. A young lady named Kimala who lives outside of JLP boundaries falls in love with the handsome main character, Ricky and they quickly learn how dangerous their love can be in this political climate, especially while living across opposite border zones.
While watching this film there were times that made me sad, times that made me laugh and moments that kept me hopeful. You could tell from the ad-libs of the audience that they felt it too.
Overall this movie was wonderful, I'm not going to leak too much info because of course I want you to to go out and enjoy it yourself but it is definitely a MUST WATCH so like I said earlier, if you ever hear about the promotions going on in your area, make sure you have a seat, front row center!!
